A 35-year-old North Side man has been arrested after removing cocaine from a local beach whilst brandishing a machete.
Police report that reports were made that the cocaine washed ashore near a resort in East End on Sunday after around 4:30 p.m. Tourists made the discovery and alerted the police. As officers were en route to the location the man approached the tourists with a machete and took the drugs. With his face covered he confronted staff and then left in a brown-colored vehicle with the drugs.
Some of the drugs were left on the beach and was collected by officers and later determined to be cocaine.
Officers conducted inquiries and later arrested the man who has since been charged with robbery, possession of cocaine with intent to supply and possession of an offensive weapon.
He is due in court later today.
There are also rumors of a video capturing the ordeal in circulation.
